River City Academy Summer Program

July 22-August 9, 2019

River City Academy offers a summer experience consisting of 1-3 weeks of intensive instruction and fun activities in our River Readers and Mathletes programs. Both courses are provided each day with the options of a fun lunch mid-day, early arrival, and late pick-up.

Students may enroll in both courses, or one course, for either 1-3 weeks. Three full weeks are recommended for maximum success.

River Readers Programs at River City Academy

River Readers

River Readers offers our students the opportunity to dive into reading by focusing on fluency, comprehension, and problem-solving in a way that is dynamic, exciting, and individualized. During each 3-hour class, students will have opportunities to practice in these key areas through a student-driven approach that works to identify areas of strength and need throughout each week. As the student excels, the course content advances for that student. As the student needs more remedial attention, more is provided using individualized strategies. By centering the instruction around the student’s needs, progress is achieved in key reading areas. Further, throughout the course, the students will have the chance to work in pairs and small groups, and will use engaging materials to allow students to move, interact, and experience reading in a new way.

The recreational activity will consist of an interactive game using the campus fields, a focused exercise activity such as mindfulness, yoga or martial arts, or an on-site activity such as an indoor game.
